Activities

During Carers Week a group together with the people they care for enjoyed a leisurely trip on the Kingfisher from Wateringbury to East Farleigh on a beautiful warm, sunny day. The Kingfisher Medway Trust, which can accommodate up to three wheelchairs, run trips twice daily stopping off for a picnic lunch.

Thee will be two further trips during the summer on on Monday 30 June and 07 August.

THE SWIMMING GROUP meets on Tuesday mornings from 10.15 at the Living Well Centre at The Hilton Hotel in Maidstone.

Two groups swim or gym on alternate weeks. After a workout or a swim, relax in the steam room, sauna or jacquzzi and finish off with a coffee in the hotel lounge.

If you would like to join the group

VOLUNTEER NEEDED

to organise a monthly walking group for carers.

We have 10 people who are interested in joining a walking group .This would be an excellent way of getting out to meet other carers, exchange views and information at the same time as enjoying some very beneficial fresh air and exercise.

The Book Club

“When Sarah Lewis, a twenty-six year old farmer’s wife wakes to find her husband has disappeared, she discovers she is not the only one – all the men in the Welsh border valley of Olchon have gone.  It is 1944, and following the D-Day landings, a German counter attack has landed on British soil.”  Shortly after the men’s disappearance, a German patrol arrives in the valley.

The members of our group had very mixed feelings about this one; ranging from an inability to read the book at all to awarding it 10 out of 10.  Between our very impressive membership there was enough knowledge of geography, history, international resistance movements and human nature to praise the author for authenticity.  But we could not agree on our interpretations of the ending.
